Mail Order for 1 to 3 gallon plants are done through PayPal. Most major credit cards are accepted. The plants are shipped UPS ground with the root balls wrapped in paper and plastic to retain moisture. The stems are trimmed for shipping and wrapped in plastic to minimize leaf loss. Plants are shipped out on Mondays to minimize delivery transit time. Shipping Rates are $10 per 1 Gallon plant and $20 per 3 Gallon plant.
Larger plants are available through delivery ($1 per mile 1 way) or pickup at the Apex Bamboo Nursery (E-mail or call for Directions), the Raleigh State Farmers Market or Charlotte Regional Farmers Market.
Bamboo plant onsite consultation, delivery and installation is also available for those living in North Carolina. See prices below.

Fargesia Rufa

Fargesia Rufa only grows to about 8 feet tall when mature, but is a vigorous grower, sending up many new culms each season. The new culms are orange / red and leaf out early in the summer, making it an excellent choice where its rapid growth is desired. It is an extremely hardy bamboo and one of the few hardy clumpers that can handle both the Summer and Winter in the Southeast, It will still benefit from shade with moist soil.

Golden bamboo is one of the best bamboos for screens. Growing very dense with limbs all the way to the ground, it forms a dense grove. This bamboo is commonly used for fishing poles. The distorted nodes on the base make an ideal handhold.

Interesting bamboo with shoots that start out green, then age to a nice, dark ebony black with age. Black Bamboo is perennially attractive. Its black, slightly rough culms, smallish dark green leaves, strength, and size are remarkable. This is one of the most popular temperate bamboo plants on the market.

Sasa Veitchii Kuma Zasa

Sasa Vetchii is grown for leaves that wither at the margins in fall, giving it a very unusual look of dark green leaves with white edges. For the most striking look, it is best used as a ground cover in a shady area. Sasa veitchii will grow to between 3 and 5 feet but can be kept shorter by cutting it to the ground after its spring flush of growth. It is also somewhat drought tolerant.
